The meaning behind TumuLab’s name: “Become an entity that connects people and the region”

The meaning of the name TumuLab is to become a presence that connects people and the community. Our goal is to become a place that connects Kitami to people, and that is our mission.

As a vision for the future, we would like to collect and disseminate local agricultural products and specialty products like a market.

2019 Birth of “TumuLab” where you can eat noodles delivered directly from the factory

Even before we started this business, we always had the idea of ​​opening a restaurant. What accelerated this idea into reality was the opportunity to interact directly with customers through events at department stores and retail locations.

It was encouraging to hear first-hand feedback about the noodles we made, and our desire to continue making noodles while communicating with our customers became stronger. This led us to accelerate the opening of TumuLab.

On April 10, 2019, TumuLab was successfully born, a place where you can experience noodles from Tsumura Noodle Factory in real life and directly communicate the thoughts of the creators to customers.

When we first opened, we served fresh hiyamugi and fresh udon, and the noodles were enjoyed by a variety of people, including locals, tourists, businessmen, and families.

Renewal in 2023 as Hokkaido’s first “fresh hiyamugi specialty store”

Being in direct contact with customers’ voices at the store, we realized that fresh hiyamugi was something that was deeply moving everyone, and this encouraged us every day.

As we celebrate our 5th anniversary in April 2023, we have decided to become a store specializing in fresh hiyamugi in order to preserve the flavor created by our founder, and to fully master the art of making delicious fresh hiyamugi.

It took a lot of courage to focus on fresh hiyamugi, which is not very familiar to the world, but we are very grateful to the many people who have visited us since the renewal.

For people who have never eaten hiyamugi before and for those who have never liked it, our starting point is to continue to convey the delicious and exciting experience of this food.
